Collaborative Law
Collaborative Law is a form of dispute resolution that is founded on a commitment not to go to court, and involves an open exchange of information, mutual respect and a focus on the future.
Some families elect to collaborate because this approach uses problem-solving approaches, keeps control of the process within the family, works closely with experts to resolve matters, emphasises the needs of children and aims to promote a solution that works for all parties concerned.
The collaborative process allows clients to determine what happens to them, not the lawyers or the court.
Clients take responsibility for their future direction, in an environment in which they are supported by lawyers and other professionals, working in a team approach towards the best possible outcome for the family. Lawyers do not negotiate in the parties’ absence during this process.
